Day 27 - Nothing

I was out and about today, but didn't really come across anything that caught my eye. It possibly had to do with the fact that I had a few conference calls to deal with along with the rest of my work, but I will have something to post tomorrow!

Day 24 and 25 - Weekends

So I think I've decided that I will post a photograph on days that I am out on the road. If we go places on the weekends or holidays and I see something good, I will post. My plan for this blog is to let others see some of the interesting (to me)/cool sights that I see. I don't want to just post a picture of something around my house if I haven't gone on the road and come across anything interesting. This isn't so much a 365 project (which is taking and posting 1 picture a day for 365 days), but more of a view of what I come across on the road.

Day 9 - Miguel's Fishing Poles

Location: Providence, RI
1/200s
f/7.1
ISO: 100

I was driving through Providence when I came across these fishing poles. I was in the area of the Fox Point Hurricane Barriers on the Providence River. I snapped a few pictures and a Spanish speaking gentleman approached me attempting to tell me that they were his poles (I gathered this with the hand gestures back and forth between his chest and the poles). With my own hand gestures, I attempted to indicate to him that I was just taking some pictures of the scene and then showed him the image on the camera. He gave a thumbs up and a told me his name was Miguel. I introduced myself, thanked him, then we shook hands and parted ways.

This appears be a part of a piece of equipment, most likely that had something to do with shipping as it is found down by the water around the Gano St. area. There are also two large gears on the ground close to this location. As with most everything else in a public place in Rhode Island, graffiti is all over.

Day 6 - Wannabe

Location: East Providence, RI
1/125s
f/5.6
ISO: 125

"Gang" tags are everywhere these days. The majority of tags that you see, at least where I am in the Northeast, are from wannabes. Some of these tags are from kids with too much time on their hands and others are from gangs that want to align themselves with the real deal gangs. The 5 pointed star in this tag is associated with the Bloods, the Vice Lords and the Latin Kings. Although these gangs are more prevalent in larger metropolitan areas, I am not saying that there are not factions everywhere. The majority of true gang tags do not include bubbly letters such as this. They have more sharp edges and will most often include the gang name and location. Also, there will usually be quite a few different tags with some crossed out as rival gangs will often re-tag an area.

Day 5 - The Wedding Cake

Location: Swansea, MA

I missed Sunday... I haven't decided yet if this will be an everyday blog, or days when I actually have interesting things to photograph. Today, however, this is a photograph from a few months back when I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding for a friend. Their cake was beautiful, I hope I did it justice.

Day 1 - You Are Not Forgotten

Location: Middletown, RI

1/200s

f/7.1

ISO: 100

When I decided to begin this blog, I really wanted the photographs to do most of the "talking". I think that sometimes we all get caught up in life and in words. My idea behind this blog is to share images that I see that strike me. They may mean one thing to me while meaning many things to many different people, and that is ok.

Veterans Day was yesterday, but as we all know, our Armed Forces are protecting us everyday. Regardless of your feelings on wars, these men and women are willing to give their lives and many of our veterans are still fighting everyday. I do not intend this as any sort of political and/or debate topic, but simply think that we should be aware and remember what is going on outside our own "little world."
